How to get out of your comfort zone?

Everything you want is just outside of your comfort zone

This quote has literally changed my life. I know it’s basic and pretty much common sense, but the moment I read it in the book ‘how to get from where you are to where you want to be’ by Jack Canfield it really resonated with me. If you haven’t read this book yet then please do! It really is a game changer.  I used to think I was quite an out-going girl. A girl who would go for what she wants and willing to try new things. Little did I know that I am so confined and comfy in my comfort zone that I didn’t even notice the zone to begin with.

Have you ever found yourself saying all the things that you would want in life but never actually doing anything about it? Well, yeah that’s me. Although I would describe myself as having a good work ethic I know that right now everything I am doing is within my comfort zone.

It seems we can all say what we want, but we never put it into action. This is either  because we we are too lazy, not sure how to begin or because it is outside of our happy, comfortable bubble that we have created. Well huns I am here to tell you that it’s time to leave your nice, cosy king-size bed with extra blankets comfort zone.

If you are super happy with your life and wouldn’t change a thing, then obviously don’t leave your bed because it sounds amazing however, I am sure there might be one part of your life that you would like to work on. If there is then stay tuned because I am going to give you some helpful tips to step out your comfort zone into the wonderful world of opportunities.

Step 1. Decide which areas in your life need a little tweak and write it down. You won’t be able to change things until you have identified what needs to be changed.

Step 2. If you carry on doing the same thing you will get the same results. So try something completely new. If you are looking for new business, speak to different people. Make an ad for your business or turn to social media. If you want to get a promotion, speak to your boss and advise them why you want and deserve it. If you want to meet the love of your life, go out to different places, join a dating website. Do something that you wouldn’t normally do.

Step 3. Gain knowledge and ask for help, you don’t have to do this alone. There are loads of people that are willing to help you. Buy books and search the internet, there is so much infomation available.

Step 4. Keep pushing. It is going to get uncomfortable and you might face new obstacles everyday but remember anything worth having doesn’t come easy.

Step 5. Write down every new thing you do and review it in three months. You will be amazed by the results and proud of yourself for stepping outside your comfort zone.

Why self-love is so important…

I never really understood the notion of self-love. I always thought it was a bit cringe or something that people focused on after a break-up. But once I hit my twenties I finally realised why self love is so important. For one reason or another life gets in the way and our own health and well-being goes right out the window. The older we get the less we tend to look after ourselves physically and mentally. When was the last time you had some ‘you’ time?

Self-love is not only about looking after your mind and body but it’s also about loving yourself unconditionally, flaws included. It’s about discovering who you are as a person, the things you like and don’t like and being true to yourself. We live in a world where we seek validation and approval from others. We compare ourselves and criticize our own decisions. In some cases, we become our own worst enemy. This is why learning to love yourself is so important because if you do not love yourself, how do you expect other people to love you. If you are constantly putting yourself down, this is the image you are portraying to the world. When you practice self-love and accept yourself fully, amazing things will happen. You will no longer settle for half-ass relationships or not going for that promotion that you’ve been dreaming about. You will have the confidence to strive for what you truly want in life with no regrets. You won’t need to seek validation from anyone because you know you’ve got your own back.

Some people have a misconception of self-love. It not about being selfish and excluding yourself from the world. It’s about understanding and appreciating who you are as a person. Once you are aware of who you are and want you want life you can start to put this into practice.

For the next month, I want you to focus on yourself as much as possible. Do all of the things that you want to do. Run yourself a bath, order a take-away, get a baby sitter and have a night out. Write a list of all of the things you want to achieve this year. Note down the things that make you happy and stop doing things that make you unhappy. Once you learn to love yourself completely everything else will follow.

November beauty favourites

IMG_5649OMG, can you believe it’s nearly Christmas! who’s excited? Christmas is cancelled for me because I am going on holiday next week and I cannot wait. Since November is now behind us I thought I would do a cheeky post of my favourite beauty buys from last month. I am one of those girls that’s easily swayed by an advert. If the advert says that by using this cream I am going to be fresh-faced, have soft skin and no spots then I am the first person to run out and buy it. I even get pulled into those unrealistic results such as ‘if you buy this shampoo then your hair will grow overnight, you will have endless curls, a new wardrobe full of clothes, find £1,000 on the floor and we will even chuck in a boyfriend’. Yeah I’m that naive, I believe everything.

Anyway here are a few of my favourite things from November;

  • Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation What an absolute dream. I was in Selfridges on the hunt for a new foundation and it was as if the make-up gods came down and pointed to the Charlotte Tilbury counter. If you have oily skin like me then this is perfect as it is a Matt finish. It is also full coverage and stays on all day. I’ve been using this as my ‘going-out out’ foundation as opposed to everyday use. I have olive skin and it was quite easy to find the right match.

  • Honey & Co Face mask Since it is now Antarctica outside my skin is in the horrors. My skin is crying out for some sun and in need of some tender loving care. I try to do a face mask every two weeks. I find that it soothes my skin and gives me a more vibrant look. I love the fact that the products are all natural and it doesn’t  leave your face looking red and puffy as most face masks do.

  • ‘Show’ Dry Shampoo– If you are as lazy as I am then you will agree that washing your hair is an absolute chore, especially when you have a lion mane for hair. Dry shampoo is a literal life saver and makes your hair feel and smell as if you have just washed it.

  • Sanctuary Spa wet skin moisture Miracle Body Lotion I still haven’t found my go to body lotion as I feel that after a few months my body gets used to the cream and it ends up making my skin dry.  I have only been using this for a few weeks but I am loving it at the moment. The cream dries as soon as your rub it in and the smell is to die for.

2018 I am coming for you

Can you believe it’s 3rd December! Time is literally flying by. I have so much going on in the next few weeks up until Christmas which mostly consists of parties, shopping, hangovers, being broke and then finally I am on holiday woohoo. Who’s excited for christmas?

On this lovely cosy Sunday evening I thought I would write a post preparing myself for the new year. I must be honest these last two years of my life have been disastrous. My little brother passed away and my boyfriend and I broke up not so long after. I feel like I’ve lost so much in such a small space of time that the thought of going into a new year terrifies me. Things have changed so much for me and dealing with a loss is extremely difficult, you never know how you are going to feel from one week to the next. But in 2018 and I am going to try my hardest to make my brother proud of me. That means no more silly decisions Dem!

2018 I am coming for you

Nothing will get you more in the mood for the new year than a vision board, so next week my best friends and I are going to meet up, have a girly sleepover and create our vision boards for 2018. How do you feel about entering the new year? Treat 2018 as a chance to press restart and do not let anything or anyone get in your way.

Wednesday inspiration

This post is inspired by one of my favourite films Cinderella. I know my sister is probably reading this, rolling her eyes and thinking “you say every film is your favourite film”.

I do say this on a regular basis however, this really is one of my favourite films.

                  Have courage and be kind

Not only am I a sucker for fairy tales but I love the messages behind them. Some may argue that in reality you do not get a happily ever after but I disagree. Life is made up of moments and there will be stages when you feel lost but, there will also be times when you feel truly happy. No matter what your current circumstances are, always be true to yourself and stand up for what you believe in. Bad situations do not last forever.

Going into 2018 is going to be hard for us all. The new year means new goals to achieve, things to leave behind, money to save etc. The new year is scary but can also be a much needed fresh start. As long as you go into 2018 with the goal of being a better version of your current self then you cannot go wrong.

You must simply have courage and be kind.

10 Ways to be healthier

This post is being written selfishly for me as I am sick with the flu again! My immune system is dire and as soon as someone sneezes I know it’s game over. As we are slowly making our way from autumn into winter. I thought it would be a good idea to write a blog post that will hopefully give us all a little push to protect our bodies, and who doesn’t want to be a little bit healthier? Anyway enough of me rambling on, let’s begin.

  1.  Get enough sleep! Studies state that if you are aged between 18-64 years the recommended sleep should be between 7-9 hours. Well you don’t have to tell me twice, I like to think of myself as the modern sleeping beauty. By going to bed early and having a full night’s rest this will allow your body to recuperate and you will be ready for the day ahead.
  2. Breakfast I must admit I do not eat breakfast…yet. It is a known fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So head over to local food shop and stack up on those cereals.

3. Herbal tea I don’t really know how I feel about herbal tea, I have a love hate relationship with it. But the benefits of drinking herbal tea are meant to be amazing. By drinking herbal tea you will supposedly shed of the pounds, fight off the flu and have a good night sleep.

4. Exercise It is recommended that you exercise everyday for 20-30 mins. I am going to be realistic with this one because there is nothing I love more than getting into bed and watching Netflix. Let’s say 4 times a week.

5. Vitamins I have tried to take vitamins in the past but I always forget to take them or the placebo effect would get me and I would start feeling weird (maybe I am a bit of a drama queen). I’ve decided to try again with some vitamins called Repair and Revitalise. They are meant to help you feel good everyday with beautiful hair, skin and nails. I am going to give them a go and see how they work. They will be linked on my Instagram if you want to try them.

6. Fruit and Veg 5 a day people, you know the drill.

7. Meditate  I am really really excited about this one. I have never meditated before but I plan to meditate for 10 minutes every night before I go to bed. The idea is to unwind, shut down your brain and relax. I have attached a meditation for beginners guide for those that want to join in.

8. Drink water the recommended amount of water to drink per day is 2L. If you buy a bottle at the beginning of every day you will be able to finish it in no time.

9. Balanced diet I AM NOT a nutritionist because I love Mac Donald’s, so I can’t really advise on this. But the plan is not to eat junk food and eat carbs and fat in moderation. I plan to eat lots of protein, meat and brown rice.

10. Go on holiday  Yes Yes Yes No matter what job you do or how hard you work, everyone deserves a holiday. Holidays give you some relaxation time. So by the time you come back you are more motivated than ever.

November- How to create goals and smash them

Hi Lovelies,

I cannot believe that it is 5th November already, time really is flying by. I must admit Autumn/Winter is not my thing. I’m going to sound like Scrooge here but I hate the cold! I don’t really care for Halloween or Bonfire night and I hate having to wear tights. If I could turn into a bear and hibernate for the winter I would.

Anyway enough negativity, it’s a new month and what always comes with a new month? A fresh start to achieve your goals. One thing I always seem to struggle with is prioritising my goals. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed then you end up procrastinating and before you know it a whole month has flown by.

I am going to give you a few little tips and tricks that I have learnt to not only create your goals but to smash them.

  • First decide what you want to achieve. Then write a list separating you short-term goals to your long-term goals.
  • Post-it notes, write down your goals on post-it notes and stick them all around your bedroom. The more you remind yourself of your goals the more likely you are to take steps to achieve them.
  • Take an hour out of everyday and focus on one goal at a time. Make a plan and put it into action.
  • Stay motivated, depending on your goal this could take a while to achieve. Let’s say for example, that you are looking for a new job. For most job hunting can be a drag and extremely disappointing, especially if you don’t hear back right away. But do not get de-motivated, read over you goals and remind yourself why you are doing this.
  • Once you have reached your goal, give yourself a little treat because you deserve it.
